The Thor franchise is one of the most successful of all in the Marvel Universe. With Chris Hemsworth playing the lead it’s believable too. Thor was first released in 2011 and made $181,030,624 at the domestic box office. It was closely followed by the next installment of the franchise namely Thor: The Dark World. The sequel did exceptionally well, raking in $206,362,140 at the domestic box office. Given the exceptional success of the first two movies, we have now heard a third is under works. With Chris Hemsworth still in the lead (why shouldn’t he), the movie is all set to release on the 28th July 2017. Too far away we know, but we are also certain it will be worth the wait.
The next installment in the franchise goes by the name Thor: Ragnarok and while much of the other films by Marvel Studios were shot in the UK, Ragnarok will head to Australia. Why Australia of all the places? Well, quite simply because of the heavy new investment the franchise has received by the Australian government; a total of $50 million. That’s three quarters of the total production budget of the first movie. The movie is written by Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle and stars Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, and Tom Hiddleston.
Thor: Ragnarok will see Thor returning to Asgard when is home is threatened by Ragnarok, which should be an interesting battle to say the least. In the comics, it wasn’t much of a problem for Thor to defeat Ragnarok, but since he is the primary supervillain of the movie, things may be a little different. Details on the storyline are scarce but you’ll know more when we do. Besides, it is a long time before Thor: Ragnarok is out so don’t get too excited. You can follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or Google+ for more updates.
