Authorities in Pakistan are working with American officials to investigate the San Bernardino shootings, especially in connection with suspect Tashfeen Malik. It is suspected that Tashfeen Malik along with her husband were behind the terrible San Bernardino shootings. Details on Tashfeen Malik, a 26-year-old Pakistani national, are scarce however, it is suspected that she entered the United States on a K-1 visa which allows foreigners to travel to the States for a wedding within 90 days. Tashfeen Malik married Syed Rizwan Farook who was born in Chicago two years ago in Saudi Arabia. The met online based on reports from anonymous family members and friends. The couple had a six-month-old daughter, and were both killed in a police shootout as a result of San Bernardino shootings. The rampage left 14 others dead.
A high-ranking official at Pakistan’s Interior Ministry was able to confirm that relevant authorities from Pakistan were in touch with Homeland Security in order to extract details on Tashfeen Malik. Pakistani authorities stated that without an ID card number, or a passport number, any leads from the United States cannot be followed. It was further confirmed by the anonymous source that Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is now involved in the search. Other reports suggest that she studied pharmacy at Bahauddin Zakaria University in Multan from 2007 to 2012 and was 29-years-old at the time of San Bernardino shootings. Reports also suggest that Malik visited Pakistan somewhere in 2013 and 2014 however, details on whom she are unknown. FIA is supposedly trying to link these pieces together in order to get a clearer picture.
There have been other reports regarding the San Bernardino shootings’ suspect linking Tashfeen Malik to Laal Masjid (Red Mosque) in Islamabad, Pakistan. It is a popular opinion that the suspect was in constant touch with the cleric of said mosque however, those reports have been denied. ISIS claims that Malik was working for them, and praised her efforts to further their cause. Pakistani sources have confirmed that Tashfeen Malik lived in Saudi Arabia when she was 25 years old.
While Pakistan is under scrutiny, her links in Saudi Arabia has put the Kingdom under a magnifying glass as well. It was learned Tashfeen Malik and her father abandoned Islam and became radicalized during their stay in Saudi Arabia. As such, none of the details mentioned in this particular hold any solid ground since none of it has been proven in the strictest sense of the word. Everything is speculation at this point with several varying reports coming in from agencies in the States, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia. However, it would appear that there is a supreme amount of focus on the “Pakistani-born and citizen” Tashfeen Malik, whereas little or no attention is being paid to the husband who was born in Chicago, United States. You can follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or Google+ for more updates.
