This is the part where you hold your breath until the next sentence at least. Game of Thrones has cast its first Indian actor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, who plays a royal. Reportedly! Of all the actors Bollywood had to offer, Neil Nitin Mukesh lands the part. This news, if true, is no less than a huge surprise. Neil Nitin Mukesh is 33 years old and has been cast in many Hindi films. Apparently, his recent venture Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, an action flick, has him doing several stunts. Greg Powell is a stunt director, and having directed two swordfight sequences in the aforementioned film, he seems to have taken a liking to Neil Nitin Mukesh. The actor said,
Gred has directed two sword fighting sequences in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (PRDP) for which I had to train for over a month in order to get the stance and wrist movements right. He seemed pretty impressed with all the hard work I put in and made the offer when we were shooting for the climax scene a few months ago.
Powell is known for his work in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Fast and Furious 6, and the Harry Potter franchise. So he is not a small fish here. Neil Nitin Mukesh plays a royal in said Hindi movie, and a royal is what he will play in Game of Thrones. Neil Nitin Mukesh is a Game of Thrones fan himself, I mean who isn’t, and he is expecting the producer of the show sometime next month to discuss the details with him. As it is, his role and importance at the moment is not known.
At this point, your guess is as good as ours as to which character Neil Nitin Mukesh will play in Game of Thrones. Note however that the deal is not set in ink yet. We don’t know for sure whether things will go further than this or not. Reportedly, Neil Nitin Mukesh is set for the sixth season of Game of Thrones, but more reliable sources point out that the actor may appear in the seventh season if he is cast. If the rumors turn out to be true, this will perhaps be the biggest role in Hollywood, a Bollywood actor has ever had.
