An attack on Paris by gunmen and bombers on Saturday killed 128 people. The attack on Paris was spread out on different locations throughout the city. It stands to reason that the attack on Paris was one of the most brutal in quite some time. Islamic State have claimed responsibility of this attack on Paris and maintains that France remains in their crosshairs. Meanwhile, France has decided to go ahead with the climate change summit. President Francois Hollande said that the attack on Paris was nothing less than an act of war against France.
In the worst attack on Paris, a Paris city hall official stated that four gunmen brutally slaughtered at least 87 people at a rock concert at the Bataclan concert hall. Shortly afterwards, an assault was launched on the gunmen by anti-terrorist commandos. In five other attacks throughout the city, 40 odd people were killed. These attacks included a double suicide bombing just outside the Stade de France national stadium. Hollande and the German foreign minister were watching a friendly soccer match at this stadium. The attack on Paris came despite France being on high alert for terrorists in wake of France waging air strikes against Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria. This devastating attack on Paris has been dubbed the worst attack in Europe since train bombings of 2004 in Madrid which took 191 lives.
French President is of the opinion that the attacks was organized by IS “barbarians” with internal help. Reportedly, a Syrian passport was found near the body of one suicide bomber. Hollande in an emergency meeting stated that appropriate action will be taken. Reportedly, while 128 have been proclaimed dead, 67 are still in critical condition. Many around the world are linking these attacks with migrants that have swarmed Europe due to the Syrian crisis. There have been mixed opinions regarding this around the globe. Major authorities around the world condemn the attack on Paris and state that it cannot be linked with the migrants. Migrants and refugees currently flooding Europe are fleeing the very same people behind these attacks. The attack on Paris lasted over 40 minutes, hopefully the perpetrators will be brought to justice after a thorough, unbiased investigation.
