The mysterious inventor of Bitcoin is currently known to the world pseudonymously as Satoshi Nakamoto. For those of you who are unaware, Bitcoin is a payment system, a cryptocurrency which is used for online payment and has recently become one of the main trading instruments. It is also the prime method of payment on the Dark Web, a part of internet that is inaccessible via normal means. Bitcoin was introduced on 3rd January 2009. One Bitcoin is currently (at the time of writing) trading at USD 419.80.
The mysterious inventor of Bitcoin may be an Australian named Craig Steven Wright who is 44 years old. A Wired Magazine report had Andy Greenberg and Gwern Branwen saying that they have obtained the strongest evidence to back up the claim that Wright indeed is the inventor of Bitcoin. However, they stated that there was no way of being certain. The pair wrote that, “Either Wright invented bitcoin, or he’s a brilliant hoaxer who very badly wants us to believe he did.” Curiosity behind the mysterious inventor of Bitcoin rose exponentially ever since it rose to popularity in 2009. In 2014, Newsweek stated that a man in California named Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto was the creator of the cryptocurrency however, he denied those claims.
According to Wired Magazine however, an anonymous source leaked documents to Branwen in November. Those documents corroborated a sizeable link between Wright and Bitcoin in the form of emails, transcripts and accounting forms etc. A blog post published by Wright moments before Bitcoin went live in January 2009 read, “The Beta of Bitcoin is live tomorrow. This is decentralized… We try until it works.” The blog post has now been deleted. Wired Magazine is not the only source for this news. Apparently, Gizmodo too received a bulk of leaked documents that link Wright and his friend late Dave Kleiman to the invention of Bitcoin. Another interesting find was that Wright tried to start a bank specifically for Bitcoin called Hotwire. He backed this idea by $23 million in Bitcoins he owned at the moment, which is substantially huge for someone who has nothing to do with the cryptocurrency.
For now, analysts around the world are sure that it was indeed Dr. Carig Wright who is the “mysterious” inventor of Bitcoin. You can follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or Google+ for more updates. Otherwise fill in the subscription box above, or subscribe to our RSS Feed.
