Deepika Padukone, a Bollywood heartthrob, is all set to take on Hollywood, according to reports. Previously, Deepika Padukone passed on a chance to star in [Fast and] Furious 7 because she was busy promoting Ram Leela at the time. It would seem that she hasn’t been offered anything but she has expressed her desire to work in Hollywod. Given the fact that she was offered a role in [Fast and] Furious 7, it should not be hard to find another role. Of course, there is no certainty that it will be as mainstream as the Fast and the Furious franchise. The decision to work though, rests entirely on her. Deepika Padukone said,
I couldn’t do Fast and Furious 7 because I was busy promoting Ram Leela. I’m ready to explore opportunities in Hollywood and if something interesting comes along, I don’t mind taking it up.
While speaking about her success in Bollywood, she referred to actors having a shelf life in India. In that, after a certain age, one doesn’t really get all the fame and glory which is not the case in Hollywood and therefore an attractive market to make an impact on in the long-run. She said,
In Hollywood, there’s no such thing as that [shelf life]. Time has changed and age really concerns neither actors nor audiences.
Which is absolutely correct. More importantly, said shelf life seems to apply to women more than it does on men. Deepika Padukone said, while commenting on the person she has become after humongous success in Bollywod,
I’m still the same person I was when I started acting. Nothing about me has changed. I still do dishes at home and my parents continue to support me.
Currently, her plate is full as she will be seen next in two movies namely, Tamasha and Bajirao Mastani in lead with Ranbir Kapoor and Ranvir Singh respectively. Deepika Padukone will probably be busy promoting these films but based on her desire to work in Hollywood, it would seem that she will keep her eyes peeled for any interesting project that pops up in the West. You can follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or Google+ for more updates.
