Contingents of Chinese and Turkish armies will participate in Pakistan Day parade to be held on 23rd March, 2017 according to ISPR.
Inter Services public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor stated in a tweet that Chinese soldiers will take part in Pakistan Day parade to mark the celebrations. Additionally, Turkish military band will also participate. Pakistan Day parade is organized by join staff headquarters in Rawalpindi. Contingents of the Pakistan army, navy and air force have already arrived in the federal capital for parade rehearsals. Strict security measures are in place to look after safety concerns.
Pakistan Day parade was resumed in year 2015 after a gap of seven years. The parade went on hiatus in 2008 and was not held the following years owing to security concerns and terrorist threats. The parade resumed in 2015 after a deadly and shocking attack on the Army Public School (APS), Peshawar in 2014, which left close to 150 people dead, 132 of which were school children. The resuming of the parade was seen as a manifestation of the military’s show of strength. Pakistan Day parade was a welcome sight for millions of Pakistanis around the country.
This year will mark the third consecutive years for the festivities in the federal capital. Pakistan Day commemorates the passing of the Lahore Resolution. It was on that day that a separate nation for the Muslims of The British Indian Empire was demanded on 23rd March, 1940. Declaration of the republic was also made on the same day in year 1956.
The rehearsals have already begun as the skies of Islamabad have been roaring with the might of the air force since early morning.
