For those of you who are unaware, AMC’s The Walking Dead is based on a comic book. One of the primary characters in the comic books is Jesus. Recently, the fifth season of The Walking Dead finished without even so much as a hint of Jesus. But that will change in the upcoming season. Jesus has finally been cast for the show. Paul Monroe, aka ‘Jesus’, will join the series for the sixth season, and will have a recurring role.
The Walking Dead is a famous zombie drama based on comic by Robert Kirkman. The comic issues of The Walking Dead first reveal Jesus in the 91st issue. He is a resident at the Alexandria Safe-Zone. Jesus moves to Alexandria from another group called the Hilltop Colony. His character is exceptionally logical and comes out as a skilled adviser. He is perfectly adapted to the new world (filled with zombies) and has a keen sense of morals and values. This fine character finally casted in The Walking Dead could pave the way for the introduction of a villain so horrendous that the Governor would seem like a furry kitten. Negan would be said villain.
Andrew Lincoln, who plays the lead in the hit show The Walking Dead, said that he would be surprised if Negan didn’t make an appearance. Here’s what Andrew Lincoln said on the subject,
There are astonishingly brilliant and thrilling characters that I am convinced we would be idiots not to meet in our journey; I would be very surprised if we don’t see Negan on the horizon in the not-too-distant future. What struck me, that I’ve always been excited about, is we’re coming into the sixth season of this show … and it’s the medieval part of The Walking Dead comic, where you realize that there are these isolated communities that don’t really know other ones exist. But they’re all building and forming themselves with their own image. And then there’s a clash of those communities. That, to me, is really interesting and when it gets really exciting with all the action. It turns into this insane, near-apocalyptic landscape that we’ve never seen before. That is almost a reimagining and a restart for society and humanity. And that is such a rich thing to tell.
At any rate, we can’t wait for the sixth season of The Walking Dead to hit the air so we can see Tom Payne as Paul Monroe, aka Jesus.
