Year 2015 was absolutely giant for tech industry with surprises coming along day after day. There were loads of events and announcements that led to dynamic changes for the foreseeable future. There were many advancements in technology, but there were few defining tech moments of 2015 which we will bring to your attention in this particular list. Enjoy the read.
The first on our list of defining tech moments of 2015 is artificial intelligence, a field that reached tremendous new heights. The biggest move in the field will have to be a power AI system by Google called TensorFlow, something that is used in Google’s search engines. Google made this software available to public this year.
Instagram > Twitter
Instagram hit it big this year with the photo-sharing application reaching 400 million monthly active users, overtaking Twitter which failed to show user commitment to the platform. Even the Twitter CEO was changed to bring the platform to the top.
New Space Race
Space programs dramatically changed with introduction of reusable rockets, reducing the cost of spaceflight and potentially bring us closer to commercial spaceflight. Recently in November, Blue Origin made history with New Shepherd, sending the rocket 62 miles above earth and bringing it back successfully.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will require drone wonders to register their drones starting 21st December. Owners will be required to provide their name, email and address including a $5 registration fee failing which criminal penalties will be subjected including fines up to $250,000.
Last on our list of defining tech moments of 2015 is one of the biggest scandal faced by car manufacturer. Volkswagen was caught violating the Clear Air Act by using software to trick emission tests. Volkswagen admitted that over 500,000 vehicles in the United States had the software installed. Later they admitted to having 11 million vehicles around the world with the said software.
